Practicing Gratitude

Hello all, have you been watching Oprah’s OWN channel?  I am and I am in love with this type of TV, it’s a place for me to ground myself and learn new tools to live a better fuller life.  Tonight I watched Oprah’s Lifeclass the final class on Gratitude with all of the teachers Iyanla Vanzant, Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra and Bishop T.D. Jakes present and I was moved to beautiful joyous tears during Tony Robbins Emotional Flooding moment.  If you haven’t seen this show or episode I recommend you do, it filled me up right up. Oprah has also made it easy for you to watch, if you don’t have OWN (I highly recommend you do), you can go online and stream it here.  Which brings me to this post and what I wanted to share with you, my gratitude this week, I hope you enjoy these photos of simple moments that brought me joy.

 We made pancakes for dinner on Sunday evening with fresh apricots & blueberries with handpicked mint from my herb garden – YUM!

A cooler summer in Vancouver has meant a longer lettuce season, lucky us!

Smelling the lavender in my garden after a days work while the sun sets.

 

 For the first time I grew beets in my garden and now I get to enjoy fresh beets on my salads.

I have been eating so many blueberries that I may very well turn blue, they are my favorite.

    I am grateful for a sunny day and cool breeze
    I am grateful for a chance to chat on line with a childhood friend – this makes me grateful for technology because we would never have reconnected or been able to chat otherwise.
    I am grateful for my wonderful husband and my two 4 legged children
    Right at this moment I am grateful for a house fly as it is flying around Deme and she keeps trying to catch it – makes me laugh!

Right now I’m grateful for advil for getting rid of my fever in record time and I’m grateful for my lovely Mum who offered to leave a party to take care of my kiddies while I recover (party sounded fun too… I could hear Uncle Rich laughing in the background… another thing I’m grateful for… infectious laughs!)

  4. I am grateful that today I was able to go for a 5 km hike in the Gatineau Hills when 6 months ago, I couldn’t walk around the block without pain. And for the apricot beer at the Old Chelsea Pub afterwards : )

  6. I am greatful to have had the privilege to have spent some time with you. It has been very enjoyable to read your Blog Brandy and get a glimpse into what an amazing woman you have become. I only knew a small part of you in design school but enough to see that time has been good to you and you have blossomed! Congratulations on your Wedding :)

  7. I am doing Oprah’s 21-day meditation and this time it’s really sinking in. I’ve tried before but never been able to sit for the full three weeks.

    What a great practice. I used to have a gratitude journal but am out of practice… time to do it again – it would be great to do leading up to the holiday season!

  8. Keeping a gratitude journal is a fantastic daily practice, I have done it in the past and it helps keep those negative thoughts at bay before bedtime. The holiday season is a great time to take it up again, or if it gets too busy start journaling on New Year’s Day to start the year off right :) Nice to hear from you!
