Sharing: 10 Things You Might Not Know

28th Mar 2012

As a part of my online course Blogging from the Heart with Susannah Conway, I have been given a writing assignment to share a bit about myself, some tidbits that you might not know about me.  The point of the assignment is to spill a little, so ya I share some personal things but they are all things I am comfortable sharing here with you…so here goes.

  1. I have a brother, half sister, two step-sisters and two step-brothers (unfortunately I don’t know the last two).
  2. I want to spend a summer living in the South of France, eating sun ripened food and enjoying the local wines.
  3. I find simple and quiet joy gardening and growing my own veggies, it connects me to my food and it tastes so much better!
  4. One day my husband and I want to have a house by a lake or the ocean, we feel most ourselves when close to the water and warm sunshine.  Our secret dream is to live somewhere tropical in a thatched roof beach cottage.
  5. Sometimes I feel lost in this rapidly growing fast paced world and I dream of slowing down to live a simpler life.
  6. Commercials hurt my head, what do cute animals and catchy music have to do with a cellphone plan?
  7. I grew up in Northern Ontario and spent a huge chunk of my life in ice rinks figure skating, watching OHL hockey and playing music for the North Bay Figure Skating Club (my first job that carried me through high school).
  8. I have watched You Got Mail a million times and will probably watch it another million times.  I love the soundtrack, the cute interactions between Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks and it just makes me so happy.
  9. I don’t have a relationship with my Dad, it hurts my heart and confuses my brain why he chooses alcohol over his kids over and over again.
  10. I love weekend mornings spent drinking coffee, reading a book I can’t put down and having breakfast with my husband.

  1. So much of your list resonates with me. I too love the water and am working to slow down my life’s pace. I LOVE France and want a home there. My relationship with my Dad was nill, but, has graduated to complicated. It’s lovely to meet you. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Lovely post Brandy! Richard and I are still working on your #4 so that one day our grand kids can dip their toes in salt water and then run to have a shower, outdoors, like their dads did.
We’re at my brother’s right now and ever day is outdoor shower day!!

  3. We have so much in common Brandy! I also yearn for a simpler, slower paced life and want to grow my own veggies. It is also my dream to spend a summer in the south of france with my family, living like a local. A wonderful mix of tidbits in your list!

  4. Sorry to hear about your relationship with your Dad, but it does sound like maybe it’s a work in progress?
I think maybe after reading some comments that a lot of us wish for a slower pace, glad I’m not alone in that. Nice to meet you Gerri.
